CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Third district Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales led the inauguration of the P5.5 million worth covered court in Barangay Pangatlan here on Thursday.
Gonzales, who was accompanied by local officials of the town, said the facility was constructed late last December through the request of the barangay officials.
Gonzales said the facility is located near Barangay Malino here and can provide as a venue for students’ sports and other co-curricular activities.
In line with this, Gonzales also distributed cash assistances to the four basketball teams in the barangay for the upcoming start of a barangay basketball league here.
Gonzales said the funds would augment the needs for uniforms of the said groups.
“Covered courts like these should host regular events at least once a month. I encourage barangay officials were our covered courts stand to implement sports and community programs to put these facilities to good use,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales added that it is up to the local barangay leadership to see to the upkeep of the covered court facility and to ensure that the whole community can put it to good use. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
