Barangay officials told to remind constituents to follow health protocols

BACOLOD City Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen, Liga ng mga Barangay president, urged all barangay officials to remind their constituents to follow the health protocols to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Pallen said she already issued a memorandum to all the barangay captains to constantly remind and educate their constituents the importance of wearing of face mask, the observance of social distancing, and curfew.

"Some of them already held a rekorida, distribution of leaflets and information dissemination through social media," she said.

She added the barangay officials were doing their best to educate their constituents, but some of their residents still failed to cooperate.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) records showed that from June 2 to 3, a total of 266 violators were arrested by personnel of Police Stations 1 to 10 along with the operatives of Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) and Bacolod City Mobile Force Company (BCMFC) for not wearing face mask and not observing physical distancing.

On June 2, a total of 116 individuals were arrested in various barangays and another 150 violators were arrested on June 3.

The violators will be charged with violation of Article 151 of Revised Penal Code for disobedience to person on authority, in relation to Executive Order 35.

Pallen asked the cooperation of the public to follow the health protocols for the safety of everybody.
