4 nabbed for illegal drugs, firearms

JOINT operatives of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera arrested four suspects for illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs.

On June 2, two gun violators were caught in Barangay Badas, San Juan, Abra.

San Juan police identified the suspects as Lando Jaquias Batallia, 49, of San Juan, Abra, and Nonoy Edaw Bag-ayan, 36, a resident of Lagangilang town.

The suspects were aboard a motorcycle that was flagged down by police who saw a firearm tucked in the waist of one of the suspects.

Confiscated were one 9mm caliber pistol with magazine loaded with 13 ammunitions and a caliber .45 pistol loaded with five ammunitions.

Meanwhile, Danilo Bergonia,35, and her live-in partner "Carlen" were arrested in Bangued, Abra by virtue of search warrant issued by Judge Mia Joy Oallares-Cawed of the Baguio City Regional Trial Court.

Confiscated from the couple were three transparent plastic sachets of substance believed to be shabu, eight assorted drug paraphernalia and live ammunition.

In Benguet Province, 400 fully-grown marijuana plants were destroyed in Liwang, Tabio, Mankayan.

The marijuana plants had an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P60,000 and were discovered in a 50-square-meter lot. No cultivator was arrested.

Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan, PRO-Cordillera director, called and enjoined all the police force to exert more effort in the implementation of laws and to not allow the Covid-19 pandemic to disrupt its campaign against illegal drugs, illegal firearms, and other forms of criminality.
