NATIONAL master (NM) Wilfredo Neri edged Davao City's Alfred Moulic and James Infiesto via superior tiebreaks to emerge champion in the Vismin Arbiters Blitz Leg 2 via Lichess.org on Wednesday, June 3.
The three players each scored seven points in nine rounds of the tournament sponsored by Jam Christy Infiesto and Susan Grace Neri.
Neri, an international arbiter (IA), had 32.25 tiebreaks while national arbiter Moulic made 31.5 and IA Infiesto, also National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) regional director, had 30.
Moulic placed second, while Infiesto came third. The top three finishers received cash prizes of P200, P100 and P50.
Neri defeated a player with username CyTelesforo, Cecilio Acas, a player with username Pcacyrus_78, Jim Danovich, a player with username mykelpagz and John Anthony Pedroso.
He, however, lost to Moulic in the fifth round and forced a deadlock with Susan Grace Neri in the last match.
Special awardees were Susan Grace Neri (Top 1850), Ruben Cabading (Top 1900) and John Anthony Pedroso (Top 2000) who also received P50 apiece.
Meanwhile, Jerome Pullos topped the 2nd Christian Gian Karlo Arca Juniors U20 Blitz Tournament held Thursday, June 4.
Pullos demolished Jerome Marticio and Jerome Aragones who landed second and third, respectively. They got P150, P120 and P100 cash prizes. Jian Ulrich Jabajab (Top U13), Keith Adriane Ilar (Top U10) and Shiela Mae Callueng (Top U8) also received special prizes.
