P135,000 worth of 'shabu' seized in Bacolod

AN estimated of P135,000 worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in a drug bust by operatives of Police Station 2 at Corner Gatuslao Street-North Capitol Road, Barangay 6, Bacolod City Thursday evening.

The operation led to the arrest of John Paul Ebro, 30, of Barangay Mansilingan, his live-in partner Mary Glo Binueza, 34, and Wence Uy, 22, of Joveta Avenue, Barangay 40, Bacolod City Police Major Sherlock Gabana, chief of Police Station 2, said yesterday Ebro and his live-in partner were arrested after they sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at about 7:10 p.m.

He said Binueza was also caught buying a shabu from the suspects.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession nine sachets of shabu weighing 15 grams, the P2,000 marked money, cellular phone, Toyota Wigo vehicle, and drug paraphernalia.

Gabana said Ebro was identified as street level target in Bacolod City and was under surveillance for almost a week before his arrest.

“His illegal activity was discovered through the strict implementation of health protocols when one the violators for not wearing face mask threw its cellular phone and when we checked it, we found their conversations about illegal drugs,” he said.

He added the suspects, who are detained at station’s custodial facility, were already charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
