High-value target, security guard nabbed in drug buy-busts

A HIGH-VALUE target and a security guard were arrested by joint Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police team in separate anti-drug operations in the region, an official announced.

PDEA-Zamboanga Peninsula Director Emerson Margate, in a report to PDEA Director-General Wilkins Villanueva, identified the arrested suspects as Mohamad Amis, 28, and Abdulla Kotoy, 59.

He said Amis was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the Integrated Bus Terminal in the village of Kagawasan, Dimataling, Zamboanga del Sur.

Margate said confiscated from Amis were some P20,400 worth of suspected shabu packed in 11 heat-sealed plastic sachets and P1,000 marked money.

He said that Amis is in the Top 8 of the PDEA list and Top 1 provincial-level drug personality of the police.

The PDEA official said that Kotoy was arrested by joint PDEA and police team backed by soldiers in a buy-bust operation around 1 p.m. Thursday in Sitio Sukamao in San Vicente village, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Recovered from the possession of Kotoy were some P68,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
