LANAO del Norte Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, with the support of all stakeholders, successfully settled a clan war involving the Alamada and Maruhom families in that province.

The Public Information Office of Lanao del Norte Provincial Government said in a statement Friday that Bisr Alamada and Amerhassan Maruhom “have freely and voluntarily agreed, consent and approved to amicably settle and committed to putting an end to their much-prolonged conflict, dispute, and misunderstanding brought by an unfortunate twist of fate.”

It said the Alamada family are from Barangay Rebucon, Nunungan while the Maruhom clan from Barangay Ilian, Sultan Naga Dimaporo.

The Rido settlement and reconciliation was held Thursday at the Gymnasium of Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Dimaporo heartily expressed her gratitude to both families and to the individuals and groups who have tirelessly worked hard to convince the concerned families in stepping forward and embraced the road towards peace and reconciliation.

“The momentous event demonstrates that no matter how deep the wounds are, there is always time to heal and forgive and a chance for all to live peacefully.”

In expressing the sincerity of both parties, Bisr Alamada and Amerhassan Maruhom held the Holy Qur’an with their hands as Aleem Noska Abdulrahman recited the verse from the Holy Qur’an reminding the parties that Allah (SWT) instructs the faithful to immediately settle any conflict amongst each other.

Lanao del Norte second district Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo, the father of peace and development, and Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo of the province’s first district, were happy to know that finally, both families have agreed to reconcile their differences, and open the door of peace and development for the people of the towns of Sultan Naga Dimaporo and Nunungan.

Among those who tirelessly worked for the settlement of the conflict are: Sultan Naga Dimaporo Mayor Motalib Dimaporo; Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay; Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Rido and Conflict Settlement Chaired by Board Member Acmad Taha; 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade headed by Brigadier General Facundo Palafox, IV; and, Colonel Rene Solidarios, Police Provincial Office chief.
