ITOGON Mayor Victorio Palangdan ordered for the immediate lifting of the lockdown in Barangay Loacan, after authorities finished its contact tracing for the second positive Covid-19 case in the mining town.

The chief executive disclosed all the 14 individuals contact-traced tested negative for Covid-19, including the repeat tests undertaken.

"The two Itogon confirmed cases are also reported to be in good condition and are recovering well. With this, I hereby lift total lockdown in Sitios Sabkil, Tocmo, Labilab and Bakong in Barangay Loacan effective immediately," Palangdan said.

Following the lifting of the lockdown, the mayor added stakeholders must still continue to practice basic health protocols and aim for a Covid-free Itogon.

In the transition period of Benguet Province from general community quarantine (GCQ) to modified GCQ, two positive cases were recorded in the town where Palangdan immediately ordered for a total lockdown in Barangays Ucab and Loacan.

After contact tracing, the lockdown in Barangay Ucab was lifted.

As of 12 noon June 6, only two cases of Covid–19 are being monitored by the Department of Health in the Cordillera.
