Worthy flicks for 'Best Friend Day'

Someone Great (2019)
Someone Great (2019)

THERE’S nothing like having people in our lives whom we can call our best friends. For months, we haven’t seen them in so long that all we can do is call them up once in a while and reminisce about the last time we hung out in person. Until that happens, it’s nice to do something together. It could be the usual catching up, playing games together or even watching a movie together. In honor of Best Friend Day, a holiday observed every June 8, here are some movies on Netflix you and your friends can watch together, and have a couple of laughs even when apart.

“Bad Moms” (2016)

It’s a movie about moms being real because they’re really tired of the expectations from other moms to be perfect, so they just decided not to care at all and just be bad. No houses were burned in the film but some of the mom duties were put aside to have some “me” time. It’s a nice feel-good movie and shows that no matter how old you are, there’s still plenty of time to find friends even in the most unconventional circumstances.

“Clueless” (1995)

From the fashion, the parties to the witty one-liners, “Clueless” shows the ways of navigating teenage life with friends while looking fabulous every time. But every once in a while, people come across drama-filled situations and reality checks leading to the truth that in the end, we really don’t have everything figured out. Apart from the cast and the fashion, it shows that you and your friends don’t have to like the same things but you’ll love each other no matter what.

“Mean Girls” (2004)

This is one movie that shows how friendships between women are crazy complicated and you can’t help but laugh and relate at some point because let’s face it, we have met women in our lives who were so mean, and at some point, we were mean ourselves. Behind every compliment lies jealousy and ruthlessness, you’re not sure if you should say thank you or insist otherwise; who you like goes through some vetting made by your friends, and when things don’t go their way, they retaliate in the worst manner possible. Despite all that, the bond between women is unlike any other.

“Someone Great” (2019)

The movie centers on the main character’s relationship with her boyfriend from how they met to how it fell apart, but viewers also get to see that her friends are with her to help her get through it as she closes a chapter in her life with one last hurrah. If that means partying all night then so be it. It makes us look back at moments in our lives when a broken heart felt like the end of the world, but going through it with your buds makes everything feel better.
