Silay Covid-19 test lab now operational

SWAB samples taken in the province are no longer submitted in Iloilo as testing is now done at the Molecular Laboratory at the Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

This was confirmed Tuesday, June 9, by Atty. Raryfrando Diaz, Provincial Administrator that the Silay Laboratory has already tested about 400 swab samples for Covid-19 test.

Diaz said some of the results already came out and one was positive for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, the operations of the Provincial Incidence Management Team (PIMT) has been "scaled down."

This was confirmed by Dr. Jonathan Lobaton, commander of the PIMT, Tuesday.

Lobaton said the number of personnel involved in the operations was trimmed down.

He clarified however that their operations in monitoring all coronavirus- related incidents in Negros Occidental continue from their operations center at the Negros Residences.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson decided to lessen the number of committees and clusters, he added.

Only the medical and humanitarian clusters are left, Lobaton pointed out.

For the clusters involving the police and military, "only their focal persons are deployed to the PIMT," he said.

As for the other agencies, only a representative will be assigned to coordinate with the PIMT, he added.

"There is no let-up in our operations such as monitoring of our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), locally stranded individuals and looking for hotels as quarantine facilities," Lobaton said. (TDE)
