THE four siblings of the Yanson family will question before the appellate courts the issuance of warrants of arrest by the Bacolod Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 53 for alleged carnapping of vehicles owned by Vallacar Transit, Inc. (VTI).
This was revealed in a statement by Lawyer Carlo Joaquin Narvasa, legal counsel of Roy Yanson, Emily Yanson, Ricardo Yanson, Jr. and Celina Lopez, directors and majority stakeholders of VTI.
"There can be no basis for warrants of arrest to be issued as the question of who between the two contending groups legally manages and operates VTI has not yet been resolved by the same court. The resolution of that issue will also determine the authority of the complainant to file suit involving VTI vehicles. By issuing arrest warrants without first resolving who between the two groups has authority to manage VTI and file complaints about it, the result of the pending intra-corporate case is now a foregone conclusion," Narvasa pointed out.
He said that his clients remain confident that truth, justice and the rule of law will prevail and that the charges against them will be proven unauthorized and untrue.
The Yanson 4 has been accused of carnapping the vehicles Mitsubishi L-300 model 2012, Foton wing-van model 2017 and Foton wing-van model 2017, owned by VTI, the country’s largest bus operator.
