THE Cebu City Health Department (CHD) has recorded 105 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
The CHD also reported three new laboratory-negative patients coming from Barangays Mabolo, Mambaling and Ermita.
One additional fatality has been recorded, bringing the total mortalities in the city to 35.
The new Covid-19 cases are from Barangays Apas (1); Basak Pardo (1); Basak San Nicolas (7); Luz (2); Buhisan (1); Bulacao (1); Calamba (3); Camputhaw (3); Capitol Site (4); Carreta (6); Cogon Ramos (2); Day-as (1); Guadalupe (4); Inayawan (2); Kalubihan (1); Kalunasan (4); Kasambagan (1); Kinasang-an (1); Labangon (6); Lahug (2); Lorega (8); Mabolo (5); Mambaling (2); Pahina Central (2); Pardo (3); Pasil (1); Pulang Bato (1); Quiot (1); Sambag 2 (4); San Roque (3); T. Padilla (2); Talamban (1); Tejero (2); Tinago (2); Tisa (4); and 10 from the Cebu City Jail.
Cebu City now has 3,194 Covid-19 positive patients with 1,722 of the cases already laboratory-negative.
Mandaue City
Elsewhere, 16 people were added to the list of positive Covid-19 cases in Mandaue City on Thursday.
The City’s Public Information Office said of the new cases, 13 are residents of Sitio Anakma Sector 2 in Barangay Pagsabungan who are considered first generation contacts of another Covid-19 patient.
Three of the new cases are from Barangays Umapad, Subangdaku and Banilad.
All are scheduled to be moved to the Mandaue City Isolation Unit for monitoring, while the City's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office is set to decontaminate their residences.
Aside from the new cases, the City also reported that four patients have recovered from Covid-19.
As of Thursday, the number of Covid-19 patients in Mandaue City has reached 343, with 47 recoveries and seven deaths.
Lapu-Lapu City
Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan announced 17 new Covid cases on Thursday in Barangays Seaside, Pusok (1), Lawis Subabasbas (1), Timpoloc, Babag (2), Carajay, Gun-ob (1), Marigondon (1), Agus (2), Firing Range, Pusok (2), Looc (2), New Lipata, Pusok (2), Bankal (1), and Pajo (2) in Lapu-Lapu City.
Talisay City
Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas Jr. reported seven new Covid-19 cases in Talisay City on Thursday. Of the seven new cases, two died just before the results of the swab test came out.
Gullas said the two fatalities were a 59-year-old woman from Barangay Tabunok who died on June 5 from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (Sari), and a 68-year-old man from Barangay San Roque who was admitted at the Talisay District Hospital for his elevated blood sugar.
Gullas said the families of the deceased patients have been under home quarantine since.
Two of Talisay’s new cases are health workers.
As of Thursday, the number of Covid-19 patients in Talisay City has reached 78, with 30 recoveries and 15 deaths.
Minglanilla
Two men, ages 82 and 24, are Minglanilla town’s newest Covid-19 cases as of June 11. Both are residents of Barangay Linao-Lipata.
Health officials said the 82-year-old patient initially had fever on May 31 and had himself checked in a private hospital.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old was asymptomatic but had to be tested for Covid-19 last May 9 after coming into contact with a cancer patient living in his compound who was also sick with Covid-19.
His test came out negative at first, but he was found positive for Covid-19 during the second swab.
As of Thursday, Minglanilla had 56 Covid-19 cases.
Nationwide
Across the country, coronavirus infections continued to rise, going past 24,000, but the number of survivors surged by a record-high 270 recoveries in a single day.
