Anti-drug operations net 5, P38,000 shabu

FIVE persons were arrested by police operatives and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in separate anti-drug operations in the Zamboanga Peninsula, an official said Friday, June 12, 2020.

The lawmen have seized some P38,800 worth of suspected shabu and a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition during the anti-drug operations.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay, Jr., newly installed Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Norberto Palattad, 41; Jimmy Boy Villeza, 29; Shirlyn Bungkac, 34; Marcelino Dela Cruz, 21; and Hattah Wadjad, 45.

Cambay said Palattad was arrested in possession of some P1,200 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 8 p.m. Thursday at La Vinia Drive in Santo Niño village, Zamboanga City.

Recovered from the possessions of Villeza and Bungkac were some P15,000 worth of suspected shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:15 p.m. Thursday at ATO Compound in Santa Maria village, Zamboanga City.

Cambay said seized from Dela Cruz were some P13,600 worth of suspected shabu and P400 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 5:15 p.m. Thursday at Purok 2 in Cayamcam village, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said Wadjad was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation around 6:15 p.m. Thursday in Tabiawan village, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

He said confiscated from the possession of Wadjad were some P9,000 worth of suspected shabu, a caliber .45 pistol with five live ammunition and P3,200 boodle money.

He said the suspects were detained while formal charges are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
