Police nab most wanted person in Leyte

POLICE arrested a 60-year-old man who is identified as the number nine most wanted person in Leyte province Thursday, June 11.

The accused was identified as Elegio Bersales, married, a resident of Barangay Talisay, Capoocan, Leyte.

Capoocan Municipal Police Station led by Captain Arnel Sarigumba arrested Bersales at his residence by virtue of a warrant dated April 26, 2018 for rape.

The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Emelinda Maquilan of Regional trial Court (RTC)-Branch 13 in Carigara, Leyte, with no bail recommended.

In Abuyog, Leyte, police also arrested a 25-year-old farmer on Thursday, June 11, for violation of paragraph (b) section 5 Article III of Republic Act (RA) 7610 or "Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act."

Police identified the accused as Jerald Realino, single and a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Abuyog.

Abuyog Municipal Police Station led by Captain Antonio Angcay, chief of police, said Realino was arrested by virtue of warrant dated May 11, 2020.

Judge Dexter Aguilar of RTC-Branch 10 in Abuyog issued the warrant, with recommended bail of P200,000. (SunStar Philippines)
