Julaton loses

TWO-TIME Filipina world boxing champion Ana Julaton "The Hurricaine" failed in her bid to become the undisputed champion in her weight class when she absorbed a 10-round unanimous decision defeat to Lisa Brown of Canada Sunday at the Casino Rama in Orillia, Canada.

Julaton, under the guidance of Nonito Donaire Jr., suffered cuts around her eyes in the fight as Brown took control of the fight early by landing the more solid blows.

With the 39-year-old Brown dominating the 29-year-old Julaton, the lady boxer from Trinidad and Tobago but now based in Toronto claimed the WBA super bantameight crown. Brown won on scores of 99-92, 99-91 and 100-90.

With the defeat, Julaton, who previously seized the IBA super bantamweight and WBO super bantamweight belts, dropped to 6 wins, two loses, one draw with one knockoutwin.

Meanwhile, another Filipino fighter, Bert Batawang, also suffered a defeat, losing to former world champion Ulises Solis of Mexico via a fifth-round TKO in a bout held in Ensenada, California. (CRAM)
