Spanish national who confronted cop blacklisted

THE Spanish national involved in a physical confrontation with a police officer in Dasmariñas Village in Makati City will no longer be allowed to enter the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday, June 16.

BI commissioner Jaime Morente said Javier Salvador Parra has been included in the BI blacklist.

"Now that he has been placed in our Immigration blacklist he is now perpetually banned from reentering the Philippines for being an undesirable alien," he said.

"Foreigners who disrespect our laws and persons of authority do not deserve the privilege to stay in our country," he added.

Morente said it serves as a notice and warning to other aliens in the country that they should not insult the policemen who are mandated to enforce the laws.

He said Parra left the country on April 23 for Madrid.

“Parra was allowed to leave since there were no formal charges yet that were filed against him in court or by the BI which was then investigating and conducting a case buildup against him,” said Morente.

The BI earlier filed a deportation case against Parra following his involvement in an armed confrontation with Senior Master Sergeant Roland Von Madrona of the Makati police in front of his house in Dasmariñas Subdivision in Makati City on April 26.

Madrona had asked Parra’s helper to wear a face mask while watering the plants outside the house but the latter suddenly emerged from his house and hurled expletives against the police official.

The policeman tried to arrest the foreign national by pinning him down to the ground but he was able to escape and run inside the house.

Morente earlier said Parra was asked to submit a counter-affidavit to answer the reports against him, but he refused to receive the notice and disregarded the requirement, which was due last May 21. (SunStar Philippines)
