ANOTHER lumad has died at the confines of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) Haran.

According to the attending physician at Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministries Incorporated (Brokenshire Hospital), a patient named Arnold L. Labando died on June 11, 2020 at 9:25 p.m. because of acute respiratory failure secondary to community-acquired pneumonia, post-arrest pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient was a suspected Covid-19 patient.

This is the third death that occurred at UCCP-Haran amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. The two previous deaths involved infants. The third death case was examined and treated at Brokenshire Hospital in Brokenshire Heights, Madapo, Davao City.

The remains of Labando were buried on June 12, 2020 at Wireless Cemetery, Barangay 8-A, Davao City. The body was allegedly buried without a permit and pertinent documents from proper authorities. According to the cemetery caretaker, the body was only covered with a blanket upon burial.

They are taking all precautionary measures to make sure their family gets the best protection from the virus. The residents of Barangay 8-A appeal to the City Government of Davao to act now before the situation gets worse.

They call for the release of the Lumad in the facility and disinfection of UCCP Haran for the welfare of the community.
