THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Davao said that a total of 103,432 left-out families in the region will receive emergency cash subsidies during the second tranche of aid distribution under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

DSWD-Davao information officer Kristelle May Cagatin said these new families, who belong to low-income households affected by quarantine restrictions, are included in the five million qualified families who were not part of the initial list of SAP beneficiaries.

"If we can remember, 18 million families lang to initially ang dapat makadawat sa subsidy nationwide, however, naminaw ang government tungod daghan reklamo na nadawat na kulang ang allocated figure sa areas (Only 18 million families were initially set to receive the subsidy nationwide but the government responded to the complaints of those who have not yet received since allocation in some areas were not enough)," Cagatin said, adding that this includes 27,705 families in Davao City, Davao del Sur (25,429), Davao Occidental (4,319), Davao del Norte (19,285), Davao de Oro (19,055), and Davao Oriental (7,639).

In Davao Region, Davao City is the only local government unit (LGU) eligible for the second tranche alongside with Metro Manila, Central Luzon, except the province of Aurora, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Benguet, Pangasinan, Iloilo Province, Cebu Province, Bacolod City, Albay, and Zamboanga City due to increase number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Davao City registered a total of 298,043 beneficiaries and with the addition of left-behind families, overall, there are a total of 401,475 beneficiaries in the region.

She added that there is no approved budget yet but if the number of beneficiaries is multiplied by P6,000, the region will have an estimated budget of P2.4 billion.

Cagatin said there is no definite date yet as to when they will start with the payout.

As of Wednesday, June 17, DSWD-Davao recorded a total of 2,150 individuals who returned their cash subsidy due to duplication of assistance.

She said the returned cash will be added to the budget for the second tranche.
