462 cases filed vs quarantine violators

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao has filed 462 cases against violators of curfew and other laws and measures implemented during the quarantine period.

From March 17 to June 15, there were 4,260 violators warned, 1,501 were fined, 128 were arrested and 106 cases were filed for curfew violations alone.

The PRO data also showed that 385 persons were arrested for disobedience, 73 persons were nabbed for overpricing or profiteering, and 356 other cases were filed for various violations of laws and ordinances during the quarantine period.

The Northern Mindanao police also reported that during this period, 67 quarantine control points were established in the different provincial and regional boundaries of the region, while 649 personnel were augmented in the different cities and provinces to intensify community patrol and ensure public safety.

Police also noted a total of 12,691 travel authority issued to locally stranded individuals.

PRO-Northern Mindanao still encouraged the community to stay inside their homes if they do not have important transactions outside.

"They may come out to work, buy food and medicine, and other urgent matters as we are still under community quarantine until the end of this month," the PRO said.
