Gingoog Covid-19 patients in stable condition

GINGOOG City Mayor Erick Canosa said Thursday, June 18, that the two patients infected with coronavirus are in stable condition and are set to be discharged from the hospital within this week.

Canosa said the 30-year-old father and his one-year-old baby were brought to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), the referral hospital for Covid-19 cases on Sunday, June 14.

"Gidala sila sa NMMC atong Sunday and ma-discharge na within this week kay maayo naman ilang condition," Canosa said.

The two patients were locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from Manila and returned to the city on June 11. The wife tested negative for the virus.

But Canosa said the two will still be sheltered at the isolation facility for monitoring once they are discharged.

He also said that there has been no community exposure as the two were immediately brought to the isolation unit upon arrival to the city.

"Duna kitay van nga mokuha sa atong mga LSIs and ROFs gikan sa pier or airport ug dad-on sila diresto sa atong isolation facility," Canosa said.

Gingoog City has three isolation facilities that can accommodate 40 to 50 persons who are probable cases for Covid-19. The units are fully-equipped with amenities and has been approved and accredited by the Department of Health (DOH).

Canosa assured that the City Government has been exerting its best efforts to prevent local transmission.

He said all returning individuals are directly brought to the isolation facilities from the seaport and airport to ensure there will be no community exposure in case they contracted the virus.

Canosa also issued an executive order restoring the quarantine checkpoints in the borders of the city to implement local ordinances and executive orders.

The City Government is also now preparing for the third wave of the food assistance for its 42,000 residents.
