Home-based physical wellness

THEY say home is where it starts. In these trying times where many of us are staying home to be safe, one could not help, especially the younger generation, but be glued to their gadgets. This could take a toll on health.

Many are drawn into watching movies or short clips, playing games, or just hours of browsing random posts on social media that take a lot of their time unconsciously. Before they know it, they would just fall asleep after some time.

But as we hear in the news, there are some instances where some manage to skip sleep for a couple of days, causing their health to drop. Some are hospitalized and worse, some even die.

Without any assurance of when this pandemic will end, starting home-based physical activities will help people lessen the time with their gadgets.

These physical activities are best done in the morning to keep them from staying up late at night and would have the energy for the activity the next day.

To realize this goal, one member of the family should take on the initiative to organize such an activity. Many are already engaged in this as posted on social media who created their home-based family morning exercise routines. Some are martial arts-based, dance-based, video-based exercises. Some even ask for a professional trainer to create a program for them to follow daily.

Another friend stated since the start of the morning exercises, they, as a family, are more conscious of time especially at night and felt the effect of lack of sleep in the first few sessions in the morning.

Another shared they finally got time to train as a family especially with their kids who have adjusted in their playtime with their gadgets, movies and had better regard for the importance of sleep and eating on time. They have also managed to invite their cousins to join.

Many people staying at home are bored especially the young ones.

Some enjoy being “couch potatoes.” But it is not healthy at all. Lack of sleep or irregular sleep routines, irregular eating routines and mental torture due to boredom could escalate in a serious problem.

Let us initiate a home-based physical activity for the overall wellness of our family. Since the internet is more accessible now due to the advent of smartphones, it is easy to find a video that everyone could watch and imitate, or simply recall and execute those simple exercises taught in PE class.

The important thing is to create an activity to better the routine of everyone other than their gadgets, online games and movies to give your couches a rest from the weight it carries for a long period. For those who want a program made for them, email the author and he will be more than happy to help. Stay safe everyone!
