BCPO forms task group to probe rob-slay of Belgian national

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has formed a special investigation task group (SITG) to focus on probing the rob-slay of Carl Nolens, a Belgian national who was shot to death by four unidentified robbers who ransacked their house in Villa Angela, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City on June 17.

Police Major Charles Gever, chief of Police Station 4, said Friday, June 19, that Colonel Henry Binas, director of BCPO, ordered the creation of the task force after their case conference at BCPO on Thursday, June 18, to solve the rob-slay of Nolens, 76.

He said the members of the task force are the BCPO investigation team, Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco), and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

"It's the directive of our city director to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and arrest the suspects who robbed and killed the victim. We already have our assignments to solve this case," he added.

On June 14, four unidentified armed robbers ransacked the house of the victim by detaching the grill fence. They climbed a tree near the terrace on the second floor and took two bags containing cash and jewelries.

Nolens tried to fight back, but one of the robbers fired at him on the stomach and fled.

Nolens's wife, Liza Marie, was also injured after she jumped off from the second floor of their house, while two of their companions inside the house were also tied up by the robbers in a room.

BCPO earlier asked the assistance of Regional Intelligence Division, CIDG and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit to solve the case.

The police also tagged remnants of the Ipogon Robbery Group as responsible in rob-slay incident.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier ordered Binas to thoroughly investigate the incident, intensify police presence and deployment to prevent a similar incident.

Leonardia said the police have already zeroed in on some principal suspects and are on hot pursuit of the same.
