Guidelines for computer shop set

THE local government unit of La Trinidad, Benguet issued rules and regulations for the reopening of computer shop operations amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

An Executive Order prescribing guidelines for the operations of computer shops in the Municipality of La Trinidad was signed June 17 by Mayor Romeo Salda, allowing shops to resume in the town once they comply with the minimum health standards and secure recommendation from the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Disease that they are allowed to operate.

The mayor added computer shop services are limited to research, encoding, printing, photocopy and other related services. E-gaming, networking and bystanders are strictly prohibited.

Computer shops will be allowed to open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and should close every Sunday for disinfection.

The Executive Order said computer shops pose a high risk of Covid-19 transmission due to close spaces and are often packed with patrons.

Minimum public health standards must be observed such as physical distancing of one meter, wearing of face masks, placing wash area and alcohol or hand sanitizer at the counter, thermal scanning (to be done before entering the premise), a doormat treated with disinfectant placed at the entrance and registration.

Individuals 21 years old and below, 60 years old and above, with comorbidity, immunodeficiency and who are pregnant women are not allowed to enter. Wearing slippers and sandos are not allowed.

Shops are also asked to disinfect computers immediately after every use. Plastic barriers should also be installed.

Salda added violating the guidelines will cause the automatic revocation of business permit.

Seven monitoring teams were also formed to keep an eye on computer shop operations in every barangay.
