THE Davao City Government on Friday, June 19, announced that all government payment transactions can now be done online.

In a Facebook post, the City Government said individuals can now download order of payment and pay their taxes online.

However, a one-time registration is required to activate their online order of payment using their official email.

For businesses, they can download the registration form linked to the City Government of Davao website. After downloading, they need to fill out the form and affix their signature.

Applicants must attach required documents. For single proprietorship, they need to have a Special Power of Attorney (SPA) if the transacting individual is not the owner, and photocopy of identification card from the owner and authorized representative.

For corporation/partnership/cooperative, they need to secure a secretary certificate or board resolution, and photocopy of ID and authorized representative.

After complying, applicants must visit the Business Bureau Office and submit the filled out and signed form together with the supporting documents.

Submissions are accepted from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Business Bureau Office is located at Ground Floor of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building in San Pedro Street.

Admission to Business Bureau premises is limited to exercise the required health standards for the existing quarantine procedures.

The Bureau personnel will review and validate the form and documents submitted. Upon approval, applicants can then do order of payment online.

For other payment transactions, applicants are requested to proceed to the designated office to secure their order of payment.

Applicants must visit the city government website through davaocity.gov.ph, and select the "online option", then "proceed to online payment", or Landbank of the Philippines' website, landbank.com, and select Link.BizPortal.

Then, select "pay now" in the Link.BizPortal, and search or select from the list: City Government of Davao.

After clicking, applicants must input their transaction details by selecting the "transaction type", then "payment options".

Applicants need to type their "order of payment transaction number (OPTN)", then type their contact details, and security code.

The Transaction Details and Payment Summary will be displayed after successful entry of the transaction.

Lastly, input the security details of the chosen payment option. Confirm the payment and select OK to continue. The Payment Confirmation Slip will be displayed and be printed.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in a previous radio interview that the City Government is gearing towards digitalization in collecting taxes.

Aside from adding convenience to the taxpayers, Duterte-Carpio said this would also lessen physical transactions in City Government offices, which is highly discouraged as of now due to the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, committee chairperson on finance, ways, and means and appropriations, also encouraged Dabawenyos to gradually pay their taxes for the city to have more funding in the coming years.

Dayanghirang admitted that the city's fund and tax collection is struggling due to the closure of some establishments.
