Settle debts, bizwoman asks vice guv

A BUSINESSWOMAN from Cebu City lodged a civil complaint before the Regional Trial Court last week against Vice Gov. Gregorio Sanchez Jr. for his alleged failure to pay for raw materials amoun-ting to more than P300,000.

Selpha Trinidad of Greenplains Subdivision in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City filed the civil case against Sanchez and demanded from the latter the payment of about P376, 243 worth of raw materials and US soya the vice governor’s health drink company allegedly used from November 2006 to March 2007.

Likewise, Trinidad also asked the court to order Sanchez to pay her P20, 000 as attorney’s fee and P10, 000 as litigation expenses.

Sought for his reaction, Sanchez told Sun. Star Cebu by the phone that the case was a mere “misunderstanding.”

Sanchez said they already offered to Trinidad checks as payment for the dues but the latter reportedly refused to accept them. He did not divulge the reason why the complainant refused to accept the checks.

Sanchez said that he and Trinidad will meet today in his office to settle the matter.

Trinidad, through her lawyers Froilan Quijano and Manuel Eufracio Zosa, said he delivered to Greg Cares Lacto Pafi, which is owned by Sanchez, about P278, 530 worth of raw materials last Nov. 21, 2006. The amount accumulated a two-percent interest per month.

On March 23, Sanchez reportedly received about P97, 713 worth of Soya. Trinidad sent a demand letter to Sanchez but the latter reportedly ignored them.

A final demand letter, which was attached to Trinidad’s complaint, showed that Sanchez failed to pay P681,393.91 for raw materials delivered for his business.
