4 nabbed in anti-drug operations



FOUR drug personalities, including a high-value target (HVT), were arrested while thousands worth of illegal drugs and a firearm were seized in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported Monday, May 11.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested HVT suspect as Castro Binondo Jr., 41, the number seven priority drug personality in Roxas, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez said that Binondo was arrested in a drug bust around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in Purok 1, Nabilid village in Roxas Municipality.

Seized from Binondo were P2,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu and P500 marked money.

The other three arrested suspects were identified as Crisento Natividad, 44, Abdulbasar Aming, 42, and his wife, Samida, 41, according to Galvez.

Recovered from Natividad were P2,200 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in another anti-illegal drugs operation around 4:50 p.m. Sunday on Estrada Street in the village of Tetuan, Zamboanga City.

The Aming couple was arrested with P25,000 worth of shabu in Kaumpurnah Zone 1 village, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province.

Galvez said that recovered from the couple were a caliber .38 revolver with four live ammunition, illegal drug paraphernalia, P3,500 marked money, and P1,200 cash in different denominations.

The suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
