15 QC cops sacked over 6 missing detainees

FIFTEEN Quezon City policemen were relieved from their posts over the escape of six arrested Chinese nationals on June 22, 2020.

Quezon City Police District Director Ronnie Montejo said the six Chinese nationals were found missing when police on duty conducted a headcount on Monday evening in a temporary detention facility in Camp Karingal.

The six foreigners have been re-arrested, but charges will still be filed against the 15 policemen.

Montejo said the 15 policemen were disarmed and relieved pending the conduct of investigation.

They may face charges of evasion through negligence. Montejo said they were also studying the filing of administrative charges against the 15 policemen.

The escapees were arrested by the QCP Tactical Motorized Unit near a creek in Barangay Cruz na Ligas in Quezon City at about 9:30 p.m. on June 23.

They were identified as Zhang Yi Xin, 28; Ludong Jin,38; Song Qicheng,29; Lu Yinliang,26; Huang Yong Qiao, 29 and Chen Bin,28.

“Ang anim ay kasama sa 51 na may commitment order na sa kasong syndicated estafa na inilabas ni Judge Jesus P. Mupas ng RTC Branch 122,” said Montejo.

He said the escapees were among the 342 foreign nationals who were apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration and QCPD in December 2019 for working without permits and visas in a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) company. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
