MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano has been recognized as "Modern Day Champion of Cooperatives" because of his efforts and support to cooperatives in the province.

The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA)-Northern Mindanao handed the plaque of recognition to the governor early this week.

The CDA-Northern Mindanao recognized Emano's "unselfish" and "variant" efforts in strengthening cooperativism in the province.

Emano has been supporting various cooperatives to uplift the lives of the Misamisnon in terms of livelihood.

"Thank you very much for honoring us for joining us. Thank you CDA for the honor and let me give you an assurance and let me say that I will never stop helping the cooperatives in MisOr as long as I am the governor as long we have the available funds we will not stop helping," Emano said.

On the same day, Emano turned over some P250,000 for two cooperatives in Opol and Binuangan towns.

The Capitol's top official turned over P100,000 cash assistance to Opol Women's Entrepreneurship Credit Cooperative (Owecco) for their "sari-sari" store business and P150,000 financial aid to Dampias Multi-purpose Cooperative (Damupco) for their commercial rice, hog feeds and grocery items business.

Cooperativism is one of the pillars of the tourism program of the governor.
