LSI is 12th active Covid-19 case in Cagayan de Oro

CITY Health Office (CHO) epidemiologist Dr. Teodulfo Joselito Retuya confirmed that a resident of Barangay Bulua who arrived from Cebu City last June 14 is the latest locally stranded individual (LSI) who tested positive for coronavirus.

During Wednesday noon's (June 25) press briefing, Retuya said the 22-year-old Bulua resident was moved straight to an city isolation unit and remains on quarantine after the results of his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) came out positive.

A travel ban is imposed on Cebu City, which is on an extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) imposed by the national government's Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Mayor Oscar Moreno said his administration at City Hall does not discriminate on travelers coming from even high-risk areas like Cebu City and neither should city residents.

"In the end, we are all Filipinos and we have a constitutional right to travel anywhere in the country. Of course, there are travel restrictions due to the pandemic but so long as we comply with minimum health safety protocols, implement early detection, testing and isolation, we can protect ourselves without inconveniencing passengers," Moreno said.
