Sungduan: 17th Anniversary

FOR the first time, there was no Grand Cañao and a big celebration for the anniversary of a Cordilleran group in Italy.

Due to the global pandemic crisis, a big gathering for the Cordillerans in Bologna and Modena Italy’s 17th anniversary and 5th Grand Cañao was canceled. Instead, they observed the event by remembering their achievements and reliving their success.

Former president of the group Marilyn Padcayan Aro Forte said the occasion was a day for prayer and giving thanks to the Almighty. A celebration of their existence as a solid original Filipino Association in Bologna, Italy.

“Though we are still in a pandemic situation, we are grateful for many things,” Forte said.

Amid the many Covid-19 cases in Italy, all the members of the group are safe and fine. Some lost their job but the organization continues to monitor and provide assistance to them.

Established in 2003, this group has been an active organization of the Federal Filipino Associations in Bologna (FedFab) wherein for 3 consecutive years they won first place as Best in Booth and Best Cultural Presentation.

At present, the group maintains its link with the different organizations in Europe such as Austria, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden.

Considered as their greatest achievements was the conduct of Biennial Grand Cañao celebration in Italy and Hosting of the First and Fourth Grand Cañao participated by several associations in Italy.

If not with the pandemic situation, the 5th Grand Cañao would have been held in Rome.

Congratulations to the members and officers of the Cordillerans in Bologna and Modena Italy for your 17th anniversary! Together as one, you will continue to achieve your goals such as promoting the Cordilleran culture abroad.
