Despite Covid-19 threats Rotary holds annual assembly

THE coronavirus pandemic has never impeded incoming officers and members of the Rotary Club to hold its annual Club Assembly held at Bantug Lake Ranch in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City on June 27.

Incoming President Atty. Belinda Siason presented her plans and programs for the incoming Rotary year which were anchored on Rotary's six areas of focus that includes peace and conflict prevention/resolution; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and economic and community development.

The other incoming officers include incoming Vice President and Past President Carla N. Cañet, Past President Philip Araneta; Past President Jun Jun Arceo, Treasurer, Immediate Past President Marinette Torrejon; Protocol Officer Bucay Albayda; Past President Rafael Golez, Club Trainer; incoming Directors Lizael Lampines, Club Administrator; Past President Atty. Joy Barbasa-Alba, Membership Committee Chairperson; Past President Elsie Jolingan, Public Relations Committee; Past President Atty. Sonya M. Verdeflor, Service Projects; Past President Dr. Benjamin Souribio, the Rotary Foundation Committee and Engr. Joemarie Gochuico, Youth Service Committee.

Their induction is set on July 24, 2020.

Incoming President Siason said that this incoming Rotary year will be quite challenging due to the Covid-19. But it will not deter the incoming officers from performing their respective tasks.

They agreed to hold their meetings virtually and in a face-to-face setting but with proper social distancing and use of face masks.

There is no impossibility when everyone participates in attaining the success of this Rotary year, Siason said.

The Covid-19 is just one challenge that with proper handling, this could still lead to a better Rotary year ahead, she added.

The incoming president anchors everything to the will and grace of God.
