LAWMEN arrested in a law enforcement operation a suspected member of a kidnap group in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, June 29.

Police Brigadier General Jesus Cambay Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Akmad Manguda Pagalala, 44, a suspected member of the Kiang Balimbingan group.

Cambay said Pagalala was nabbed after a warrant for his arrest was served around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in Lapirawan village, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Pagalala has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention issued by the court in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Cambay said that Pagalala is now under the temporary custody of Malangas police for proper disposition.

The police have tagged the Balimbingan group as the one responsible for the April 3, 2018 kidnapping of Laarni Buen, secretary of the Cebeles Marine Product firm in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Buen was released on May 31, 2018. (SunStar Zamboanga)
