SANTA RITA -- Mayor Ferdinand Salalila of this town on Monday, June 29, 2020, confirmed that the latest coronavirus case here is a three-year-old child, the youngest case recorded in Pampanga and among patients in Central Luzon.
Salalila told SunStar Pampanga that the toddler has been named as Patient 11. The child has been infected by one of the relatives who have earlier tested positive for coronavirus.
This town had recorded 11 coronavirus cases since April. Two of the said cases have since recovered while nine other cases, which are among the latest of the infections in the town, are still considered active cases.
Salalila said that there are four cases in Barangay Diladila, two in Becuran, one in San Matias, and another in Barangay San Basilio.
“The patient from San Basilio had already tested negative twice from the swab test but would need to undergo a 14-day quarantine,” he said.
Salalila also appealed to residents and barangay leaders to monitor people coming in from Metro Manila, abroad and areas with known coronavirus cases. The mayor said that most of the cases from the town as well as in neighboring municipalities are “outside” or not local transmissions.
“We need to look after one another. The municipal government is doing all it can but we cannot do this alone,” Salalila said.
The mayor also warned that those violating health protocols, people without face masks and those attending unwarranted gatherings will be arrested and charged.
