Fundraising drive for PUJ drivers, operators launched

A GROUP of student volunteers in Cebu launched Tuesday, June 30, an online fundraising initiative called “TsuperHero” to help provide aid to families of jeepney operators and drivers hardly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Janine Namoc, public relations officer for the Project TsuperHero, said the project welcomes any form of donations.

It initially targets to raise at least P100,000, which will be used to purchase goods, face masks and face shields, and to fund for a livelihood starter kit for members of the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (Piston)-Cebu.

Namoc said through the project, they also aim to teach the families of the affected public utility jeepney operators and drivers another possiblesource of income by means of making liquid detergent.

For this objective, the group has partnered with the Junior Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers Cebu Institute of Technology-University Chapter.

She said the fundraising is expected to last for a month, as they aim to have the turnover of donations and livelihood kits by August.
