Cebu Province to resume tourism activities in towns

CEBU Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said Wednesday, July 1, 2020, protocols are being prepared for the resumption of tourism activities in some towns in the province.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) downgraded the province's quarantine status to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from the general community quarantine (GCQ) on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

Garcia said aside from tourism, the province is working on ECD (enhanced countryside development), focusing on the Province’s agricultural production.

Garcia said tourism activities like canyoneering in Badian, whale shark watching in Oslob, thresher shark watching in Malapascua, among others will resume but subject to “very strict health protocols.”

The governor said she is working with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Trade and Industry in crafting tourism protocols with the guidance of the Department of Health. (MVG)
