Policemen undergo spiritual upliftment

MAGALANG -- Policemen here are undergoing spiritual upliftment amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is in line with the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon Interfaith Squad System under the "new normal."

As part of the program, personnel of the town police station tuned in to the "The Love of God Almighty" via the Facebook livestreming, which was officiated by Reverend Father Lieutenant Colonel Heintje L Canete, chaplain of the Central Luzon police.

Lieutenant Colonel Henry Flores, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) station in this town, said the activity was one of the Preventive Approach of the Enhanced Revitalized PNP Internal Cleansing Strategy, which aims to develop the spirit of camaraderie and spiritual well-being of policemen.

Flores said it is important to turn oneself to God particularly in this time of crisis.

A cop should serve as a role model of the community dedicated to improving one's self socially, culturally and morally, according to the chief of police.

Father Canete said the PNP's Squad Weekly Interactive Meeting (Swim) program has given them the opportunity to conduct online spiritual seminars despite the lockdown being enforced by the police.

"Although yung ibang lugar ay nasa modified general quarantine pa, nandoon pa rin ang mga quarantine control points so napakahirap magkatagpo tagpo yung ating mga kapulisan to have this activity," the chaplain said.

"So nagakaroon tayo ng programang online Swim, so I hope this activity will help us enrich our spiritual life and values as a police officer," Canete added.
