Mandaue

Meanwhile, 17 policemen at the Mandaue City Police Office tested positive for Covid-19 in a swab test, the results of which were released Monday, June 29.

Mandaue City Police Director Colonel Jonathan Abella said four of the 17 policemen are investigators from Police Station 5, who possibly got the virus from one of their detainees who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Disinfection procedures were immediately conducted at the Police Station 5 to stop further infection.

The four investigators are now being monitored in an isolation center in Mandaue City, Abella said.

The 13 other policemen are detailed with the Crisis Management Battalion handling the border checkpoints in Mandaue City.

Reports said the policemen got the virus from the driver of the police service vehicle who is from Cebu City.

Abella said all the policemen are asymptomatic and assured that the Philippine National Police will take care of them until they recover.

In the meantime, Station 5 is not receiving any complainants and the public is advised to proceed to the Mandaue City Police Officer for their concerns.

Abella said all police personnel are regularly reminded to observe the minimum health standards as they carry on with their daily work.
