Pangan: Return to normalcy

AFTER going through the four tiers of quarantine restrictions, the people of Central Luzon, particularly Mabalacat City, hope to experience the way of life under the new normal.

Back to the old ways lived before the Covid-19 pandemic, these people expect the more lenient, gung ho style of living where restrictions under the quarantine protocols are no longer observed and followed.

It is grueling 96-day quarantine experimentation and Central Luzon people have adequately been attuned to the health protocols: wearing of face masks, social or physical distancing, proper washing of hands and use of alcohol and hand sanitizers and even foot spa. Well, we've gotten used to these and we still expect to use them in the new normal. After all, they've been designed for our safety and hygiene.

Even the transport sector has been disciplined to follow the social distancing guidelines although this lessened significantly the income or earnings of the lowly drivers.

No longer will there be the frequent distribution of relief goods although some sectors still need them to tide them over.

It has been an exhilarating experience for all of us living under quarantine situations. Imagine going through enhanced community quarantine, modified enhanced community quarantine, general community quarantine and modified general community quarantine, all calculated to limit our movement and hopefully save us from the deadly effect of the coronavirus. All's well that ends well, I think. And now, we anticipate the pronouncement to be back to normal, the new normal, a way of living with restrictions still. We will get used to it somehow.
