Cagayan de Oro logs 7 new Covid-19 cases

A RETURNING overseas Filipino worker (ROF) and six locally stranded individuals (LSIs) are the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Cagayan de Oro, City Health Office (CHO) Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

As of Thursday morning, the total number of confirmed cases in the city is at 49.

The 43rd case involves a 31-year-old female LSI from Marikina City and a resident of Barangay Gusa. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 24 experiencing cough and sore throat.

Retuya said she was treated in the city isolation unit and, at present, she is staying at the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF).

The 44th case is a 38-year-old female LSI from ParaƱaque and a resident of Barangay Carmen. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea travel on June 24. She is asymptomatic and is staying at the TTMF.

The 45th case is a 59-year-old female ROF from Canada and a resident of Barangay Canitoan. She arrived on June 19 at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, where she was swabbed and had tested negative for the virus. She stayed from June 19 to 23 at a quarantine area in Mactan, Cebu, and then traveled to Manila where she waited for a flight going to Cagayan de Oro at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for a day.

The woman was swabbed in Cagayan de Oro on June 29 and her test result, which came out on June 30, read positive.

The 46th case is a 21-year-old female LSI from Malabon and a resident of Barangay Patag, this City. She arrived via plane at the Laguindingan Airport on June 24.

Retuya said the woman is asymptomatic and will be transferred from the city isolation unit to the TTMF.

The 47th case is a 49-year-old female LSI from Manila and a resident of Barangay Cugman. According to Retuya, she was a house help in Quezon City and was stranded in Manila Port from June 19 to 22.

She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 24. At present, she's asymptomatic and due to be transferred from the city isolation unit to the TTMF.

The 48th case is a 22-year-old female LSI from Malabon and a resident of Barangay Kauswagan. She arrived in Cagayan de Oro via private vehicle land travel.

She is currently staying at the city isolation unit and is due to be transferred to the TTMF.

The 49th case is a 39-year-old female LSI from Cavite and a resident of Barangay Pagatpat. She was a house help in Cavite, Retuya said.

She arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 24 and will be transferred from the city isolation unit to the TTMF.

Emergency Operations Center head Dr. Lorraine Nery said 28 of the 49 confirmed cases in Cagayan de Oro belong to the ROF/LSI category, constituting 57 percent of the total cases.

Nineteen of the 49 cases are tagged as local transmission, constituting around 39 percent of the total cases, she added.

Meanwhile, another two uniformed personnel who are Authorized Persons Outside of Residence have been transferred to the city's TTMF.
