GAB acts on 8 arrested licensed gaffers in Batangas

THE Games and Amusements Board (GAB) has taken action against the eight confirmed licensed gaffers who were among the 49 arrested individuals involved in recent illegal gambling activity in Batangas City.

Chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra in a message said that the anti-illegal gambling operation was spearheaded by the National Bureau of Investigation-Region 4A on June 20, 2020, in a residential area at GC Berberabe Subdivision, Pallocan West, Batangas City.

Those arrested licensed gaffers are Elmer Enrico, Edilberto Clanor Jr., Windel William Uy, Noel Santos, Roldan Sison, Rommel Panganiban, Jomar Marasigan and Roger Muñoz.

Aside from the criminal charges that the accused will be facing in connection with the arrest, GAB is serious to impose the sanction of revoking the licenses of the gaffers involved in illegal gambling activity.

“The involvement of GAB license holders on illegal gambling activity shall be treated accordingly by GAB to serve as a lesson for violators and encourage compliance to laws. GAB also calls its licensees to respect the law and follow the guidelines of IATF on restrictions of activities in connection with the nation's fight against the Covid-19 pandemic,” Mitra said.

GAB is a government agency mandated to supervise and regulate the conduct of international derbies in the country and at the same time the issuing agency for licenses of cockfighting officials like manggagamot, sentenciador and mananari. (JSG)
