Palmares-Moises: Wearing makeup all day, every day

M: Dinah doesn’t feel pretty, so she would wear makeup everytime when talking to her new boyfriend. One time, he made a remark on why she was wearing makeup even if it was early in the morning. He found it “whorish.” What will Dinah do? First, stop the urge of putting makeup early in the morning. Give your face and your pores a chance to breathe! While you cover up your face with makeup to mask your insecurity, you have to remember, outer beauty without inner beauty is a sham.

DJ: Her boyfriend is probably equating makeup with risk. The bare face might be disappointing. No one wants being duped. But seriously, social media, Airbrush and Photoshop are feeding people with false images of perfection. Beauty these days is already in the eyes of society. It’s unfortunate if Dinah is falling into such mold. Generally, guys prefer ladies who are comfortable with their own skin. Too much makeup actually takes a woman’s appearance as opposed to adding to it. Just my opinion. I find ladies who look good with just their natural look eating Chickenjoy to be sexy. Particularly if there’s eye contact.

M: Even the most beautiful women feel some insecurity about the way they look. Yes, even me! Seriously, we all have our self-doubts and it’s not just in the way we look. Some feel inadequate about their height. Some feel inferior because of their weight. Even those who are pretty want to be prettier. And many just don’t resort to using makeup to enhance their looks but go as far as undergoing medical procedures. And sadly, there are those who don’t know when to stop or say enough is enough, and end up looking like Madame Auring magnified by her crystal ball.

DJ: Some guys also equate makeup with high maintenance. I’m not saying I’m agreeing to it. I’m just letting Dinah know. Sure, a well put-together profile picture can be attractive. But in person, there seems to be that effortless vibe that comes with a lady who doesn’t need a cover up. Yeah, people shouldn’t judge the book by its cover. But the fact such quote exists indicates that people need to be reminded not to. Perhaps, her boyfriend is also quite confused why her face looks fairer than the rest of her body. Guys really don’t understand the complexities of the routine but a clownish look early in the morning can be a little off putting. Oh well, as long as there is a match in the major aspects of their lives, anything else that comes along like wearing makeup will not really be a deal breaker.

M: Dinah should be more comfortable with her own self and try not to use cosmetics to make herself feel beautiful. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don’t think her boyfriend fell for her contoured face, eyelash extensions or heavily made up face. It’s more than just looks. Dinah, my advice? Start with not wearing any lipstick. After all the face mask would cover the lower part of your face. Then skip the foundation. Of course, keep your eyebrows because after all, kilay is life. But tone down the war paint. You might be surprised you look better without it.

DJ: As long as she isn’t using makeup to validate who she is, Dinah can take the comment in stride. I’ve read somewhere that makeup is a form of self-expression too. Like art. Whatever works. While people will say no makeup can compensate for beauty that comes from within, it’s her face at the end of the day. She can do whatever she wants.
