Arayat town records first Covid-19 case

ARAYAT -- A frontliner working at the Bureau of Quarantine inside Clark Freeport is this town’s first-ever coronavirus disease (Covid-19) case.

An official statement from the Municipal Government of Arayat said that the 50-year-old patient is from Barangay San Antonio of the said town.

The said patient has a travel history in Metro Manila on June 23 and underwent swab testing on June 25.

Currently, the patient is asymptomatic and is now in an isolation facility located inside Clark Freeport.

The Municipal Government said that all known contacts of the patient have been subjected to contact tracing and subjected to swab tests. All tests returned negative.

The Municipal Government also believes that the patient may have been infected in Metro Manila or from his job as a courier of the test specimens for locally stranded individuals and returning overseas Filipinos inside Clark Freeport.

The Municipal Government also assured that there is no local transmission in the town.
