Another 2 LSIs, OFW tested positive for Covid-19 in Oro

TWO locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and a returning overseas Filipino worker tested positive for the new coronavirus, Emergency Operations Center head Dr. Lorraine Nery reported on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

Cagayan de Oro now has a total of 59 confirmed Covid-19 cases, of which around 64 percent are returning OFWs and LSIs.

The first case is a 35-year-old male LSI from ParaƱaque City and a resident of Barangay Balulang. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro on June 22 and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit.

The second case is a 49-year-old male construction worker who is an LSI from Pasig City and a resident of Barangay Gusa. He arrived in Cagayan de Oro via sea trip on June 21 and was brought directly to the city isolation unit.

According to City Health Office (CHO) Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya, the 49-year-old man is asymptomatic and is set to be transferred to the Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF).

The third case is a 39-year-old male OFW from the Middle East and a resident of Barangay Upper Balulang. He arrived at the Laguindingan Airport on June 25 and was immediately brought to the city isolation unit.

The patient is asymptomatic and is set to be transferred to the TTMF.

From March 30 to July 3, the CHO has registered a total of 4,396 new arrivals, of which 909 are ongoing their 14-day quarantine period.

A total of 771 patients are currently staying at the city isolation units and TTMFs, wherein 123 are OFWs, 616 are LSIs, eight are Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), and 16 are close contacts.

As of July 4, the number of TTMFs with active registration is at 26 and the bed capacity is at 857.

Meanwhile, Northern Mindanao Medical Center medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha, said the hospital recorded three patients who have tested negative for the virus.

The patients who tested negative for the virus were 58-year-old male from Cagayan de Oro who was discharged from the ER level as well as 72-year-old male, 51-year-old male, and a 54-year-old male who were all from outside Cagayan de Oro.
