ON ITS second day of payout for waitlisted beneficiaries in Central Visayas, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 went to six barangays in the northern town of Liloan, Cebu on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

A total of 460 waitlisted beneficiaries from Barangays Catarman, Tabla, San Roque, Lataban, Sta. Cruz and San Vicente received their P6,000 in cash aid under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Waitlisted or “left-outs” are those who qualified for the program but were not included on the list of SAP beneficiaries who received financial assistance during the first tranche.

Leah Quintana, DSWD 7 information officer, said they still have to distribute cash aid to 1,245 “left-out” household beneficiaries in Liloan alone.

This is equivalent to about P7.4 million in SAP funds, she said.

The DSWD 7 earlier said the region had 237,500 waitlisted beneficiaries.

On Friday, July 3, the DSWD 7 also distributed cash to 168 waitlisted beneficiaries in the towns of Consolacion, Compostela, and Oslob in Cebu.

Republic Act 11469, or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, which instituted the SAP aims to mitigate the effects of the crisis brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. (WBS)
