21 active Covid-19 cases recorded in Apalit village

AT LEAST 15 more individuals from Barangay Capalangan in Apalit were infected by the dreaded novel coronavirus, Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. said Sunday afternoon, July 5.

Tetangco said the new infections were among the close contacts of the second set of positive patients who are housemates and close relatives of Patient 140 -- the 69 year-old woman who is now considered the source of local transmission of virus.

"We identified 48 close contacts of the five patients we earlier reported. Forty of them had their results released on Saturday and 15 of them turn out positive," he said.

These made the total number of active Covid-19 cases in Barangay Capalangan -- located along the Pampanga River -- to 21.

Tetangco said 56 more people will also undergo swab testing after they were exposed to the third set of positive patients.

Due to said development, Governor Dennis Pineda ordered the reversal of modified general community quarantine to enhanced community quarantine in the whole of Barangay Capalangan and Sitio Cauayan in adjacent Barangay Sulipan.

The governor said only people who will run essential errands such as buy food and medicines are allowed to go out. A quarantine pass is also required.

Tetangco also said a mobile market will roam every Monday, Wednesday and Friday around the village, and a "pabili" system will also be made available for residents.
