73 persons arrested for violating health protocols

A TOTAL of 73 persons in Bacolod City were arrested by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) for violating health protocols in the campaign against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Sunday, July 5, 2020.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said the violators were arrested by personnel of Police Stations 2, 4, 5, 7, and 10 for not wearing a face mask and not observing physical distancing.

Of the 73 violators, 21 were arrested by personnel of Police Station 5, 20 were arrested by Police Station 10, 13 were arrested by Police Station 7, 10 were arrested by Police Station 2, and nine were arrested by Police Station 4.

The violators will be charged for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code for disobedience to persons on authority, in relation to Executive Order No. 35.

The police will file the case in the regular filing.

Meanwhile, two motorcycle riders were injured in a road accident in Bangga Payag, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Saturday.

Injured were Ricky Tuason, 35, of Barangay Dulao, Bago City; and Dennis Villanueva, 31, of Kabankalan City.

Pico said that Tuason was driving his motorcycle traveling from south to north of Bangga Payag when he bumped the Yamaha motorcycle driven by Villanueva at around 5:20 p.m.

Both drivers, who fell to the ground, sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital.

Pico said Police Station 7 is still conducting further investigation on the incident.
