Employees' union backs Capitol reforms

THE Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (Pace) has expressed full support to the reforms undertaken by the present Capitol administration, as Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is set to deliver on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, his first State of the Province Address (Sopa).

In a resolution, Pace stated: "The employees, being the backbone of the provincial government both in terms of delivery of basic services and in the generation of income through programs and activities calculated to redound to the best interest of the public, are hereby expected to perform accordingly with utmost diligence, integrity and efficiency."

"Pace welcomes the reforms for all being undertaken by the provincial government, rehabilitating the core attitude to serve than to be served and restoring the integrity and virtues of public servants as Kawani and Bayaning Manggagawa, Government employees as heroes in public service," it added.

Pace also said that it does not tolerate nor favor inappropriate attitudes in public service, being the "watchdog of the public and guardians of employees rights, the equilibrium of those rights."

"Obligation must be maintained with utmost care and so is the observance of due process in the exercise by the disciplining authority to its rights to discipline employees," Pace further stated in its resolution.

Pace came out with the resolution after the suspension of two Capitol department heads, and issuance of show cause order to another department head, four lawyers and an employee at the Provincial Legal Office.

Meanwhile, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is also set to deliver Tuesday his first Sopa during the regular session of the Provincial Board.

Since it's a closed-door session because of the threat of the Covid-19, live feeds will be provided by the Provincial Government.
