THE management of the formidable Ceres-Negros Football Club has been expected to come out with an official statement about the news circulating the last few days that they are disbanding the football team.

An official of the team, who asked not to be named, said: "We are aware that the pandemic that brought the recent crisis hit hard not only Ceres but other football clubs in the world including Southeast Asia."

"Besides, also because of Covid-19, there is no resumption of leagues and we don't even have schedules up to this time," the source said without any further comment on the issues at hand.

The reported disbanding of the three-time Philippine Football League (PFL) champions circulated since last week after the retirement of Philippine national team legend James Younghusband.

Another player, Joshua Grommen, has also revealed about the situation that he had faced in Ceres.

The Filipino-Australian footballer said that he had ended his contract with the PFL giant, stating that the club hadn’t paid their players in two months due to the pandemic.

It was also reported that due to the ongoing financial issues of the club, Ceres has allowed their players to leave the club temporarily.
