OVER 200 locally stranded individuals from Manila will undergo health screening once they arrive at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott).

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said on Monday, July 6, that arriving LSIs will undergo a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing, which the City Government deemed as the most effective testing to detect those with Sars-CoV-2, the virus causing the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Duterte-Carpio said they are expecting to receive 278 LSIs, some of whom are also residents of other towns and cities in Davao Region.

The LSIs are traveling by land on a bus and are expected to arrive within the week.

Meanwhile, the mayor said arriving individuals will undergo health screening and testing at Dcott. Their health screening results will determine if they will be sent home to have their 14-day quarantine there or at one of the City Government's We Heal As One Centers.

Duterte-Carpio said they are expecting an increase of Covid-19 cases from LSIs.

"Even sa ubang lugar, usually, pag-open sa air travel, and pagdawat sa LSIs and OFWs (overseas Filipino workers), diha na musaka ang Covid-19 cases sa ilang lugar (Even in other areas, Covid-19 cases increase with the resumption of air travels and the arrival of LSIs and OFWs)," the mayor said.

Dcott head Aisa Usop, meanwhile, said they are preparing for the arrival of LSIs.

Usop said the terminal is divided into two areas, wherein the north bound will be for regular passengers, while the south bound will be for LSIs.
