ALL 21 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) onboard a passenger bus bound for Mindanao have survived the road accident in Sta. Rita, Samar, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas on Monday, July 3, 2020.

Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, police regional spokesperson, said the Partas Bus Line with plate number NDI 6648 was traveling from Manila as part of the government’s “Hatid Tulong” program when it met with an accident at around 3 a.m. Monday along Barangay Caticugan, Sta. Rita town.

She identified the driver as Alberto Baldo, 47, married, a resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.

Initial investigation disclosed the driver lost control of the steering wheel upon reaching the curved portion of the road, causing the bus to overshoot to the side of the highway.

All the persons on board were not injured during the accident, police said in a report.

The 21 LSI passengers were loaded and distributed to the accompanying buses going to their destination, according to Rentuaya. (SunStar Philippines)
